The Northeast Kingdom is one of Vermont's hidden treasures. About two thirds of the weeks are taken by the same families each year, but there are good weeks available for newcomers throughout the summer. Many of our cottagers have been coming to Lake Salem for years. Each cottage has its own dock and boat which can be used with a small out board motor. Cottagers enjoy unique access to both lakes, which are excellent for fishing, with plentiful bass, walleye and salmon. They are located on a peninsular of land separating Big Salem Lake from Little Salem Lake. The Lothrop cottage is one of four family owned cottages located on a sandy beach, each with at least a 100 foot private frontage on Lake Salem in the famous Northeast Kingdom near the Canadian border in Derby, Vermont. Come stay with us and experience a bit of the old Vermont. Close to the Canadian border and within a few hours of the capital of Vermont. Very serene and peaceful and close to town, lakes, spectacle and Island Pond, and the beautiful Brighton State park. We have a large selection of DVD's as well as many game boards for the kids and books. Kitchen is fully stocked offering you anything you could need. We offer coffee with a nice selection of coffee on hand. There are two beautiful soaking tubs, one in the master bathroom and one in the master bedroom. In the living room you will find a pull out sofa. The master bed has a memory foam mattress.
On the beds you will find soft and comfortable duvet covers and pillow cases.

Winter activities include ice fishing as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the attached 75-acre wooded parcel. The views of fall foliage are spectacular and there are many back roads that are safe for biking and walking. Lake Seymour holds the Gold Award for water quality and is known not only for its beauty, clarity, and great swimming and boating but also for salmon and trout fishing. There is a bonfire pit on the shore and kayaks for your use. The finished lower level opens to the lakeside and provides additional gathering and sleeping space. A large deck with a grill provides space for outdoor dining and gathering or a spot for listening to the quiet lap of waves. An enclosed sun room offers privacy and quiet for reading and relaxing while viewing the lake and hills and listening to the haunting sounds of loons and ducks or sighting one of the local bald eagles. This spacious home offers room for family and friends to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this location. Ruby's Lake House: a lovely custom-built, four bedroom home with a first floor master suite located on the shores of beautiful Lake Seymour features a private sandy beach with spectacular views of the lake and the sunrise. Looking south you have an excellent view of Bald Mountain and across the lake is an iconic VT red barn and working farm. The crystal clear lake waters are excellent for swimming, boating, fishing, bird watching and relaxing. It is regarded as one of the cleanest lakes in VT. Two-Sky Lake House sits right on the shore of Echo Lake in northern Vermont.
